6 best places to drink coffee in Amsterdam

Since sharing some of my favorite places in Amsterdam in my post What do to in Amsterdam  I received a lot of response asking for a list of the best places to get buzzed in my city. As Amsterdam is on par in terms of coffee, here is a selection of cafes I think really stand out from the crowd.

1: Lot Sixty One

This bar is definitely the place to go when you truly love coffee. Pick your beans and get a freshly brewed coffee, just the way you like it (filtered, espresso, frenchpressed, you name it). Lot Sixty One also serves some amazing homemade cookies!

2: KOKO Coffee & Design

Run by a very sweet lady, this place is cosy and attracts a nice crowd without being too arrogant. Just 5 minutes away from Central Station, KOKO Coffee & Design is a great place to meet up with a friend, check out some of their fashion, design and literature and take a stroll through the red light district. 😉

3: De Wasserrette

This is more of a lunchroom/restaurant than just a coffeebar, but it is definitely worth a visit if you are planning to stroll through de Pijp. shines at great coffee (they created their own blend sourced from 4 different countries), delicious sandwiches and a great interior as eye-candy.

4: Droog Design

Co-founded and directed by curator and author Renny Ramakers, design company Droog creates cutting edge products, projects and events around the world in collaboration with designers, clients and partners. Droog has been pioneering new directions for design since the early nineties, redefining international notions of luxury in design. Be amazed at their crazy products in the shop and then head up to the restaurant to stroke your senses.

5: Two for Joy

Two for Joy
Two for Joy has two coffee shops in Rotterdam. One is in on Frederiksplein near Utrechtsestraat, and the other is in the western part of the city, on the Haarlemmerdijk 182. It is a clean and bright place, without hipster-like elements that would make it too fancy. A great place to read a newspaper, hang out with friends or just to enjoy watching the various types of people that come here.

6: Coffee Bru

This specialty Coffee Bar has a very relaxed atmosphere to it with a great selection of cakes and sweetness to get your taste buds popping. Coffee Bru is a great stop before or after strolling through Het Oosterpark.
